21 day Daniel fast

“Sometimes you are so hungry, the only way to be fed is to fast.”~Susan Gregory

Although I've tried in the past, I'm now ready to do a FAST. I have researched about what a fast is and how to do one the correct way. Because I want to make sure I'm doing it right. I have so much going on with me that I need my soul feed, my spirit strengthen and my body renewed. I need guidance, direction, help, revelation, need help focusing, show me my purpose etc..  I need to concentrate on me and get myself together. This is the most unhappy I've been in my life.

My idea fast is giving up things that is a distraction or that would be hard to give up. Which is computer(no Facebook..lol) just blogging my experience and thoughts, nobTV, talking to others on the phone(friends) I will just talk to my mother, and no sex.I have no problem giving those things up. Of course I have to discuss some things over with certain people. I just want to be left along connecting with the lord, praying and reading my bible. The perfect time would be to start Nov 1-21, but my bff Connie have concerns about me trying to fast while training and running this 1/2 marathon on the 12th. I think It will be fine because I have faith that I can get Thur this.

The sex part will be an issue. Of course I can just say no, but according to the book when asked what about marital relations during the Daniel Fast? The Bible does speak of husbands and wives abstaining from sexual relations during fasts. However, this is to be a mutual agreement by both the husband and wife. Many couples do refrain from sex while fasting and find their relationship strengthened as they intentionally express love for one another in other ways. Paul teaches about abstaining from marital relations in 1Corinthians 7:5: "Do not deprive one another except with consent for a time, that you may give yourselves to fasting and prayers;and come together again so that Satan does not tempt you because of your lack of self control". While married couples are not required to abstain from marital relations during their fast, many find it a powerful experience as they bring greater focus on the lord and also find ways to express love and respect to one another. So, abstaining from sex during the Daniel Fast is not required, however it is an opportunity to experience growth in your marriage and in your relationship with the Lord.

I don't think DH will agree. Which having DH leaving for training on the 1st and coming back on the 18th would've been perfect, but now that has been cancel..sigh.. However, I will bring this to his attention and see how this go. My goal is to give up one of many things, that would be hard to give up and for me that was sex.  So I'm refraining from sex so I can get closer to the lord, all the other things are irrelevant.

I'm ready for my journey and focusing on the direction the lord want me to go in. I'm not praying for him to keep anyone in my life..I'm actually praying for the direct opposite remove all who don't want to be here and don't belong.  I want to be at peace, happy and content with my life.  I need my soul feed, my spirit strengthen and my body renewed

until next time

goal not completed

I did not hit my goal from last week..sigh. However, I was able to get in a total of two run. A Wednesday 4.01 mile run. @ 6:51 a.m. and a Saturday morning 3.21 mile. After doing my Wed run, I finally realize what was my problem about an early morning run in my currently location. It's me been in the solider way. I went on my run and had plan on doing 6 miles. I cut it short bc i came in contact with soldiers doing their pt..I did not expect to see any of them on the route i run. But I forgot how big this post is and how little places they have for them to run. I was running and some soldiers came up behind me. I felt so uncomfortable with them behind me..one bc I felt i was moving to slow and  i was holding them up so I cross the street..lol

My second run was back in my home town. My childhood bff mother died from breast cancer and I went home for her home going celebration. The air was very cold and crisp. It made it difficult for me to breath for some reason. Nose burning from the air and make me wonder if I'm prepared for this 1/2 marathon. But I'm not going to start self doubting myself.

Forgot to add

I forgot to record my run from the other day , which was Wednesday.  I ran 3.04 mi 00:36 11:48 pace. I only ran one time which is a no no. For some reason , Although my body is up at 6 a.m. I'm afraid to get up and go running at that time. It's still dark out and I talk myself out of going. I think back on how I used to get up early ( 5a.m.- 6 a.m. )back in WA and do the airfield. The airfield was more secluded and no traffic. Now isn't that the craziest thing. As when I run around my neighborhood, the route I take until there is sidewalk I'll be in the street. I don't want to get hit. I have so much running energy built up between 6-9 that its ridiculous.

But somehow I'm going to need to figure something out. I have almost 3 weeks to training hard( up to my potential) before the half marathon. My bff haven't ran since our ten miles..lol but she has a lot going on. So to get her back on schedule I've been sending her worrisome text messages to get her back on track. She say I'm evil. But hey I'm trying to hit a goal here! lol...

Back to my normal training schedule this week. I'm just going to get over this scariness and do what I do best. I'll be lite up like a Christmas tree so that everyone can see me and so they can mistake me for a car :D ! I also need to get back into the gym.

I'm going to see how this schedule work for the week.

Goal
Monday 6 miles/ gym
Tuesday  4-5 miles
Wednesday  6 miles/gym
Thursday 4-5 miles
Friday 6 miles/gym
Saturday  7 miles
Sunday (walk or rest)

until next time, keep preserving the sexy

Whoop, Whoop..10 miles baby!!!!

Ipod..check, Garmin..check..water bottle, wash cloth and Id..check. On the phone with bff to see if she is ready. She nervous, and for some reason I am too!! Nervous as if we r actually doing the race lol. But we know this is something we must do to see where we are at. The first six miles went great. By mile 7 I kept pushing thru came mile 8 I went to the run/ walk combination which might of look like the shuffle.. dragging my feet so it can keep moving. Mile 10 Thank you Jesus, I made it and I'm done. I finished in 2:04:47 nice run considering this is my first 10 miles I ever ran! My bff finished in 2:53:54..I'm so proud of her.

Happy running,

Getting ready for a 10 mile run

Today is a rest day. Although I wanted to run I had to take the day off. My bff and I are running 10 miles tomorrow to see where we will be at for the 1/2 marathon on Nov 12. We will both start off at 7 in different(state) location to see what our pace will be. One thing I know is I must take water with me so I can stay hydrate. I actually went looking for a running water backpack and found some. However, didn't buy one. Didn't see one that I wanted..lol they had plenty and it shouldn't be base off what I like but whats get the job done.

Now this is going to be a interesting run ,we are running by ourselves in different states. My goal is to finish in 2:02. I always set goals for when I run. But I know my bff goal is to just finish..lol..She always tell me I'm crazy. But if you don't set a time you want know how much you can push yourself to do.

Happy running,
Shelia

Margaritas are not an electrolyte replacement plan

The amount of salt on your face is a good indicator of how hardcore you are. It's the best when someone says "eww, what is that all over your face?", and you can respond, "I just ran 20 miles". lol Seriously, I  Only ran 6 , walked a one mile warm with a total of 7 miles..shooting for 13.1

I did a total of 7 miles today. My goal was to do 6 miles and that's what I was focusing on. 21 days of non run activity..ouch!... 39 days until my first Half Marathon. One mile walk warm up in 16:49..Hey every mile count right..lol so I'm taking my credit :)

Summary of my 6 miles run 1:15:19 + 1 mile warm up= 7 miles in 1:32:08

Definitely got to start running with water or Gatorade. Margaritas are not an electrolyte replacement plan. No wonder I'm always dehydrated!!
