It's time to get serious(rant to self)

Okay I'm sitting here thinking about what I'm doing on my journey. Then I realise that I'm not accomplishing any of my goals that I set out to do. I know I can get better and will get better. I have goals of doing a 5k,10k and a marathon. Yeah I can talk a good game but am I really pushing myself ? No I'm not. I'm not living my life to it full potential.

Yes, I knew winter was going to be my biggest challenge and I'll probably become bored with this. I do tend to get bored easily. The kicker is I'm not even bored and winter isn't a challenge. I love running , walking and working out. I love how I feel when I complete either one. Have I really change my mindset or am I settling with what I 'm doing now? I'm settling and making excuses. I hate it. I REFUSE TO STAY OR FALL BACK WHERE I ONCE WAS!

No I'm not been hard on myself. I know what I'm capable of and I can do better. So I'm challenging myself to do better. Enough is enough. It's time to stop playing, get serious and change.

No activity

I didn't workout today. Can't say I didn't have time or I had something else to do. I just didn't feel like getting out of bed this a.m.. Although, two days of not working out will not killed me, I do still need to get back into working out. However, I have set my goal so high that I expect more out of me. I have been drinking those damn root beer. I don't know why when my menstrual comes on(it off now) I crave for a root beer soda and white powder donuts. Is it a mental thing or what. Any how I'll get it together. I'm too determine not to.

I did the airfield this a.m. and finished at 7:05 a.m.. My time is definitely improving but, my goal now is to shave off that 5 minutes. Since, my evening is going to be freed up, I'll be going to the gym @ 5:00 p.m.. Although running work out your overall body, I need to hit the gym to work on individual body areas. Hope everyone is still having a successful journey and getting some me time in. Later!

Easy day

It was such a beautiful day today. The sun was shining the temperature was just right. It wasn't to cold to wear a jacket but, not to warm or hot to wear shorts. So, I decided to take a stroll around the neighborhood. I still did my 5 miles but did it walking. I enjoyed the fresh air, looking at the trees go Thur it changes for the winter and hearing the laughter of the children playing outside.

From 2-8:15p.m. my schedule was very busy. I took the kids to football practice, came back to finishing cooking, left again to Volunteer for an hour at their school, pick them up from football practice, went to a meeting, pick husband up from the gym and came home just in time to watch the biggest looser. I was very shock of the outcome. Ole boy(forgot name) have created havoc in that camp. But they all still need to focus on the big picture. Because, It still a game!!!!

Time Management

Wednesday was the last day I worked out. The best time for me to work out is in the a.m. Because, If I don't life distraction will take over in the p.m. I had every intention to workout Friday a.m. but, had to finish my hair. I knew Saturday was out of the question. I had a class from 9a.m.-3p.m. but had to meet up with everyone by 8:15a.m. so our group could sit together. I hate that I missed all of those days. Today is Sunday & I just didn't have the energy (PMSing). I know all of these are excuses. So what a lady to do?

LOOK AT HER TIME MANAGEMENT!!!!! (lol). My body is up at 5:00 A.M.. and I need to stick to that no matter what. Besides, that's when I wake the kids up so, that they can get ready for school during the week. I need to be leaving the house by 5:45A.M. and be working out from 6A.M. until 7:30A.M.. I need to make this non negotiable. I need to speak this out to the universe.

When I wake up at 5 A.M.. I will get up and leave the house at 5:45A.M. I will be working out from 6A.M. - 7:30A.M.. Rather it will be running ,@ the gym or just walking. This is sooo non negotiable. I will get better at my time management. Off to a new week!!!!

No work out

Okay so I didn't workout Tuesday and nor today (Thursday). Since I had an 8a.m. dental appointment (cleaning) and I usually be finished with my workout around 7:30 a.m. I opt not to even try to push working out. So no workout for me today. Due ,to our windstorm that has cause power outage, falling trees, heavy wind blowing and rain I think it's safe to stay in my house this evening. But I will exercise tomorrow morning. Hope everyone is still having fun and success with their journey! Later.

Claiming it

It's time for me to rejoin the work force. So today I applied for some GS position. Here is me claming what I want..... I will get the Permanent full time GS 4 job I applied for today. I will be working Monday- Friday and will get the highest salary possible. For I'm worth it, qualified and damn it I deserve it!(lol)

Awesome Morning!

It seems like I run better in the ran(drizzling). Which is soooo strange. Do I run better because, I'm pushing myself to hurry so I don't get soak and wet? Don't know I haven't figure that one out yet. Well I got up this morning and went running. I started out at 6a.m. and finished @ 7:o7 a.m. My time is definitely improving. As I started running I caught a cramp in my side. So I ran as far as I can and began walking. Once the cramp left my side I began to re pick up my pace.

I decided to time myself to see how far I can run. I ran for 20 minutes as fast as I can without stopping. I covered a lot of ground. I really need to stay on top of recording my time and miles. This is the only way to see if I'm improving or staying comfortable at the miles that I run. It's time to increase my miles.

My body and Mind was insynch

Why did my mind and body synchronized against me today. Now how can that be and is that possible ? I had every intention on running this a.m. After sitting in the car for 4 minute, I was thinking just lay your seat back and go back to sleep. My mind and body both agreed. However, you always have that voice, the voice that tell you that you know you're suppose to be excising. So I got out of car and start walking. Now I'm glad that I got moving but disappointed that I didn't get a run in.

I didn't even have the mindset to push myself . Of course, my husband pass by me after been in the gym first. I still didn't get motivated to run and catch up. I just kept on walking. Atleast it was a peaceful & pleasant walk lol. Maybe tomorrow.

I got fitted Today!!!!!

After researching on running and educating myself about how my foot is shapes on http://www.runnersworld.com/subtopic/0,7123,s6-240-319-326-0,00.html . I began to research on finding the proper running shoe store and came across http://johnrankin.wordpress.com/ blog. After reading his blog I noticed he recommended the http://thebalancedathlete.com/. So I was telling my husband that we needed to go get fitted for proper running shoes. We drove down to Kent and visited the store.

We enter the balanced athlete and was greeted by Eric. I told him why we were there and we went from there. He was very professional and full of information. Eric had us run barefoot on the treadmill,(veiw the process on there page) and video tapes the process. He was able to show us the stride and foot strike of each foot. Eric shows us the issues that needed to be address.

He discussed Line up the ball. "When you try your shoe on, the ball of your foot (the widest part) should line up exactly with the widest part of the shoe. If that fit is right, everything else should line up--from the toes to the heel. He told me the proper way my foot should land when the heel hits the ground to when the toe lifts off it. My form and went over the fit of the shoe. After measuring our foot, Eric had us to test drive our first pair of shoes and runs down the sidewalk. Then we test drive our second pair.

Eric put us back on the treadmill with the first selection of shoes and video how our stride and striking of our foot was. Proceeded to do the same thing with the second pair selection. So after determine how the shoe fit,the form &etc. We purchased both selection. The best shoe for running were the http://www.asicsamerica.com/PROD_PIC/FALL_2007/LARGEPIC/TN750_0191L.jpg .Best support for my foot and I wore a 11 in these. I chose this shoe http://www.zappos.com/n/multi_view.cgi?product_id=7207680&color_id=52735&view=multi for walking. I wore a size9 these. I was suprise by the differnce in sizing. We also got some running socks.

Eric also told me us about their running group on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. I'm thinking about joining. He said it doesn't matter if you can run two or twenty mile everyone is welcome. They don't judge you on how many miles you can run. I be checking onto it.

That is how I spent my Saturday getting fitted, went out to eat and about to head out dancing. No exercise today.

GYM TIME

So my husband and I went to the gym this morning from 9 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.. Our exercises consist of the following dealing with the Abs...leg raises, crunches on the ball, rotary torso(sides), bicycles, knee raises, back extension, leg curls, push up, pull up and did 30 minutes on the elliptical machine. Although, I didn't want to go to the gym I'm glad I did. He likes to work out in the gym I like to run outside. So the days, I don't want to work out in the gym he push me, push me until finally he just drag me to the gym (lol) and the days he don't like to run I push him. Overall I had a great workout!!!!!

Hope everyone is still having a great journey to a healthier body and lifestyle. If not keep working on it. We will get there!

Today I had an AWESOME run!!!!

I woke up late 6:06 a.m. got to the airfield @6:15 a.m.. My body was still asleep but my mind was wide awake. My husband 1st Sgt asked me was I running with the unit today?" I'm good but not that good. So I told him I was running the airfield but not with the unit. However, I'll see them out there. I started out with a 20 minutes head start and ran the first two miles( yay for me). I was really pushing myself because I didn't want the unit to catch up and pass me. Because, I knew they can run this 5 mile field without stopping.

I wanted to be as far as possible when they caught up with me. I ran, walked, ran, ran walked and ran. I was feeling really good about my run. Guess who I saw catching up with me, My husband! I knew that was going to be his goal. So I really started pushing myself. He did pass me and had the nerves to say bye(rolling eyes)! So from then on I was behind him pacing him.

My goal then became beat him to the car and I knew I had to get back to my finish point and then run to the car. Yes, I beat him to the car but he got the bragging rights. He told me his #1 goal was to catchup with me even though smoke told him he wouldn't be able to since I had a 20 minute start. After the run I did my squats and legs lift. Today I had an AWESOME run!!!!

3 weeks

Today is 3 weeks of me working out. Out of 3 weeks I've missed 7 day of not working out. Not bad. So technically, I've worked out for two weeks( lol) if you count the missed days. I started out at 6:05 a.m. doing the airfield. I ran, walked, ran walked. I finished it at 7:04 a.m. My time is definitely improving.

As, I was walking around the airfield, I began to think why can't you run the whole 5 miles without stopping. I remember running everyday in Germany and didn't have a problem. Then it dawn on me. FIRST, I'm trying to accomplish too much too fast. SECOND,Duh! you was running 2 miles daily not five. After re-evaluate, I'm going to concentrate on running two mile without stopping and build from there. I'll be incorporating timing myself to see how I'm doing. THIRD, thing that I learned is I need to exercise in the A.M.. Because If I don't with life distraction in the p.m. I'll get nothing done. However, If I do workout in the p.m. that's a bonus but A.M.will be priority!!!

Goal: Stop drinking Sodas, Workout in A.M., Run two miles and time myself.

What inspired me ?

I figure I need to state why I started blogging/ exercising since everyone else have a list.

I found myself in a state of depression in June 2006, after relocating from Germany to Washington. My husband got delpoyed in June and my grandmom died that month (June06)also. I was unmotivated, sleeping alot and found myself in doors alot. I only got dressed or went out doors when needed. When someone suggest that I was in depression, I'll motivate myself to get out and do more , but all the same time when not been looked at I'll fall back in that state.

My grandfather died 8 months after his wife(March 2007) and my husband grandmom died 2 months after him( May 2007), all the same time I'm worried about how my husband will take the news of his grandmom death while in Iraq. So with the on and off depression I began to pack on the.................

1) Weight- I'm 5 feet and 4 1/2 inches tall. The last time I weight myself was July 10, 2007 due to yearly check up. I was @ 160 pounds. Due to my husband been deployed to Iraq and getting extended to 15 months/ depression ( I was in denial) I gained weight. I also found myself giving out of breath easily and eating unhealthy.

2) My cholesterol was slight elevated. I found that out at my yearly check up after having my blood work done. I Never had problem with that. But knew I need to change that.

3) Accountability- I needed someone to hold me accountable for doing what I once love doing(don't get me wrong there are some exercise I hate doing). So when my nappy sister Lamonica, suggested starting a workout blog/ weigh blog to get support and encouragement, I knew this would be the perfect opportunity to get back on track.

4) I wanted to get back to eating healthy and living a healthy lifestyle again.

Went to the gym

My husband and I went to the gym today. I got on the tread mill for 30 minutes and set it for hills. I also did Abs, shoulders, inner and outer thighs. We stayed for an hour. I really hate going to the gym I prefer the outdoors. But I no I need to incorporate exercises that I can do in the gym. So I'm going to put together a program to do in the gym. I'm also going to pick up this month oxygen magazine( I normally get from the libaray). I'll cut out the article that shows different exercises and create my workout booklet. Later!

Can you feel the burn!

I started out with a slow run this afternoon @5:15 p.m. and quickly start feeling the burn in my ankles, calves and the front part of my lower leg. It hurt more with the left leg than the right. So I came to a stop after running the first mile. However I did finish with a walk. I also saw some other ladies out running around the airfield. But I think they ran around twice. I dream of doing that and I will accomplish it. But today wasn't it lol.

I stop by the library before doing my run/ walk to pick up a book that was on hold. I enjoyed the fresh air and just been able to hear my self think and clear my mind. Tonight was just perfect. I look forward to tomorrow morning. Enjoy you all weekend!

I was soooo motivated

That I ran in the pouring rain! I dreamt of running the airfield last night. So I woke up got dress and off I went to do the airfield in the rain. My husband ask me was I'm going to work out in the gym. I told him no I'm running the airfield. He looked at me crazy and said you better than me. You probably have the airfield to yourself this morning because of the rain. So off I went to run the airfield at 6:17a.m.

I ran the first two mile and came across some soldiers running with their unit. Why did I hear one say dang she must be a serious runner to be running in the rain. All I could do was smile and my head swelled up. But kept going. I did walk some but majority of it I ran. Eventually, it easy up on raining hard. But I completed the airfield at 7:15 a.m. I was sitting in the car waiting on my husband when he came out.

He was shock to see me. Because normally he would have to wait on me. I figure since its raining I might as well push myself to keep from getting soak in wet. 5 miles completed today!

Almost change my mind

I woke up this morning to a cold and rainy day. I laid there and thought to myself it's raining just stay in bed. But then I thought don't used that as an excuse. So guess what? I got out of bed and off I went @6a.m. to go walk the airfield. It wasn't raining that hard it was more of a drizzle. Although, it was cold and raining I was able to overcome my excuse to not exercise. However, it did start raining very hard later on today. Trying to run the airfield non stop is what's given me my drive. Why because it taunting me knowing that I can do it. Just have to apply myself. I will strive and make this goal come true.

Rest Day

Today will be my rest day. My husband bestfriend came into town unannounce and we have been entertaining him. So I got nothing accomplish today. But we have been enjoying him. We haven't seen him since 2002. I'll check back in tomorrow.
